“Ulriksdal” chest with secretaire by Carl Malmsten

This handsome chest with secretaire in an updated Gustavian style is one of the designs Carl Malmsten developed after winning a commission by Prince Gustaf VI Adolf to furnish the Ulriksdal Palace in 1924, lovingly crafted in birch by the workshops of the exclusive Stockholm based Nordika KIompaniet department store, the secretaire features a Gustavian style ridged diamond on the hinged cover and legs set a a jaunty side-saberside-sabered legs, Sweden/ Manufacturer tag, numbered “2912R” Restored on request. This model is in the collection of the Nordiska Museet, Stockholm.
