Ebbe Sadolin

Handsome and rare model vase by Ebbe Sadolin (1900-1982) for Bing & Groendahl, having four arched sides with squinched shoulders and a bottle mouth; stoneware with a eggshell finish brown glaze, Denmark, 1930s; impressed factory mark, inscribed artist signature, and ink “C616” on underside. Sadolin is most famous for his work as an illustrator, and his ceramics display a graphic approach in their designs, such as the raised outlines that articulate the faces and neck of this vase.
